FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — A mid-life crisis? No such thing, according to the study Up, Not Down, conducted by Canadian researchers.

A group of high school students were tracked for 25 years, and a group of college graduates were followed for 14 years.

Self-reported bliss grew steadily from age 18 into the participants’ 30s and early 40s, with only a slight decline in cheer at about 43.

The study’s authors say contrary to long-held notions, by middle age most people have overcome the uncertainty of their 20s, leading to increased happiness.
