Fresno Police Search For A Man Who Shot Another

On Monday, November 16, 2015, at 1:24 PM, patrol officers were dispatched to a shooting near the Food Mart, 2425 N. Fresno St. As officers were responding to the shooting, they received information from dispatch that a male victim was shot in the leg and was being transported from the scene to the hospital (CRMC) by his girlfriend. Also, officers received information that the shooter was in a black Lexus and fled the scene from the shooting westbound on McKinley Avenue from Fresno Street. Officers arrived in the area and canvassed for the suspect vehicle but could not locate the Lexus.

Officers contacted the 23-year-old male shooting victim at the hospital and they were told the following. The victim was driving a vehicle with his girlfriend as the passenger. He was traveling eastbound on McKinley Avenue at Fresno Street. Suddenly, he saw the suspect approaching him on foot on the driver side of the vehicle. The suspect was armed with a handgun and shot into the drivers door striking the victim in the left leg. The gunshot wound was not a life-threatening injury.

After the shooting, the suspect returned to a black Lexus and fled westbound on McKinley Avenue. The victim and girlfriend drove to the hospital for treatment. Preliminary investigation at the scene points to the victim and suspect knowing each other and that the shooting was over an interpersonal dispute. Officers are searching for the suspect at this time as he has been identified. That information will not be released to the media at this juncture. Officers are also checking various locations for any video camera footage that may have captured this shooting.
