FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — The Golden State’s largest labor union has unveiled its bid to boost the minimum wage, launching a second initiative for the 2016 ballot.

The SEIU-approved proposal calls for a minimum wage of $15 an hour by 2020, and 6 paid sick days a year.

Supporters say California has more wealth than other parts of America, and it’s time to get on the bandwagon.

The SEIU-United Healthcare Workers West is pursing its own minimum wage measure, which calls for $15 an hour by 2021.

Polls show strong support for a better wage in California, with 7 out of 10 voters saying they support incremental increases.
