FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — The California Medical Board has turned down a request to require that all doctors placed on probation inform their patients verbally and in writing.
Offenses range from drug and alcohol abuse, to medical negligence, and sexual misconduct.
However, the board is making a potentially first-of-its-kind move, forming a task force to consider less “prescriptive” ways to notify patients when their doctor is probation.
As of September, about 500 licensed California doctors are serving state-ordered probation.
You can check your physician’s status at mbc.ca.gov.
