SCHOOL ACT

Council members Lee Brand & Oliver Baines introduce the “School Liaison Act” resolution.

Fresno City Councilmembers Lee Brand and Oliver Baines announced a resolution they will be bringing forward for City Council approval at their October 29th meeting, which will develop policies to improve communications between the City and local school governing boards.

The “School Liaison Act” will establish a standing Council subcommittee to work directly with school governing board subcommittees from Fresno Unified, Central Unified, Clovis Unified and State Center Community College to resolve cross-jurisdictional issues on a peer-to-peer basis.

“Issues like Career Technical Education and opening school grounds can be more effectively resolved through Subcommittees,” -Lee Brand, Councilman.

Councilman Baines said, “The City is committed to improving relations with local school districts and the establishment of a standing subcommittee will benefit the City and the school districts.”
