FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — California Community Colleges Chancellor Brice Harris has announced his intention to retire.

Harris, who led the 113-college system through a challenging time of academic reform and accreditation controversies, says it’s been his “dream job.”

California Community Colleges had to deal with funding cuts and enrollment declines.

However, Harris helped launched a series of initiatives, including online tools, and supported legislation to allow some community colleges to offer bachelor’s degrees.

He’ll step down in April; a search committee will be chosen to find his successor.
