(KMJ) – The Central California Women’s Conference (CCWC) will be awarding $20,000 to fight Valley hunger. Funds were raised from donations made by the near-capacity crowd of recent attendees at the 28th Annual event on Sept. 22. Research shows $1.00 provides up to seven meals.
Organizers asked for the help of the 3,445 CCWC attendees when CCWC Board Vice-President, Tricia Holt, took the podium and asked that everyone reach into their billfold and their heart and pull out a donation to fight hunger.
Early in the year. the Central California Women’s Conference announced fighting Valley hunger as one of its key missions for 2015. Statistics show that one in four adults in the Valley struggle to get enough food to eat on a daily basis. The numbers also show that one in three children don’t know where their next meal is coming from.
100% of the collected donations will stay local and will be divided evenly among Community Food Bank, The Salvation Army, Tulare Foodlink, Catholic Charities and the Madera Food Bank.
Now in its 28th year, more than 84,000 women have attended the Central California Women’s Conference.
