Exhibit Opens At Fresno State Featuring Shamanic Artist

SHAMANIC

The Master of Arts Graduate Exhibition at Fresno State will feature the display “Entering the Circle-Journey of a Shamanic Artist” from Sept. 28 – Oct. 5 at the Phebe Conley Gallery in the Conley Art Building.

The exhibition by graduate student Kristen R. Kennedy is presented by the Conley Art Gallery and kicks off with an opening reception from 5 – 8 p.m. today (Sept. 28) followed by a drumming circle from 7 – 8 p.m.

“Understanding the Shamonic process which has to do with dreaming, and shamans are known as messengers between this world and the next, and to them they go across into the underworld to bring back message for the community and healing and so shamans are considered soul healers. I’m thinking well, art can heal the soul, too. So, there’s all this parallel between shamans and artists and so, it’s in our history.” – Kristen Kennedy, Artist.

Guests may bring drums and rattles (none will be provided).

The gallery hours for exhibitions are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday – Thursday.

Four large student exhibitions and multiple master’s degree student exhibitions are featured each year.
