FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — The voter-approved Prop. 30 tax hikes are set to expire in 2018, and a coalition of education advocates are already seeking to extend them.
Schools Chief Tom Torlakson and Governor Jerry Brown are among some of the most high-profile proponents, who say the higher sales and income tax rates, will continue to benefit the budget, and prevent cuts to social services.
This latest effort calls for an extension through 2030; supporters are pushing to get their initiative on the 2016 ballot.
