FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — There’s about a 95% chance that El Nino will continue through Northern Hemisphere winter 2015-16, with a peak in the late fall or early winter.

However, the National Weather Service’s Climate Prediction Center says don’t get too exited just yet.

Forecasters can’t say with much certainty whether California will see lots of much needed rain and snowfall.

Strong El Nino events have historically led to wetter-than-average conditions, but mainly for the southern part of the state.

Experts say this coming winter could either bring major storms, or extend our record-dry weather, meaning continued conservation is a must.
