A Fresno icon is moving to make way for the High Speed Rail.
The Cosmopolitan Bar & Grill broke ground for its new site, next door to the Selland Arena.
Will people make the switch from the old location to the new?
Jim Parnegian – one patron thinks so: “This move here to where the Convention Center is – is such a positive move it will even increase their business and be a hot spot for the City of Fresno, I feel.”
The Cosmo’s current location at Fresno and “G” Streets will stay open during construction.
The new location opens next March at the southwest corner of Ventura and “O” Street.
“We’re survivors, I guess – been doing business for about a hundred years, same family, same property, we’re going to hope to continue for a hundred years.” – Joe Lanfranco, GM, Cosmopolitan Bar & Grill.
The Mayor, who is a great fan of their food, spoke of the owners’ willingness to make the move work: “They had two choices – either get mad and fight or go along and make it a win-win situation.” – Mayor Ashley Swearengin.
The Cosmo opens March 1st.
