Vigil Held For Slain Fresno Student-Athlete

Deondre Howard

(KMJ) Fresno Police say early Saturday morning, 21-year old Deondre Howard was gunned down in front of his residence near Shaw and Valentine in Fresno. His 16-year old brother was injured but has since been released from the hospital.

Howard was a well known student-athlete at Edison High School and Fresno City College.  Sunday night, hundreds packed the field at Edison High for an emotional vigil to remember the 21-year-old.

Edison High School Varsity football coach Matt Johnson said of Howard, “The greatest young little guy I’ve ever seen that could play baseball and football at the highest level.”

Fresno police continues to search for suspects.
