A smoky taste to a glass of wine could become a reality because of northern California wildfires.
Fires burning in Napa, Sonoma and Lake Counties might cause some problems for the wine industry.
Since red wine skin is used in the wine making process and those fires are creating a lot of smoke, there could an unusual taste as a result.
James Kennedy, Director of the Viticulture and Enology Research Center at Fresno state says the wine could have an ashtray taste to it.
Kennedy says you can treat the first signs of smoke tainted wine, but it’s a big problem that most likely cannot be fully eliminated.
