CLOVIS (KMJ) — A Clovis woman is thanking her father’s tostada cravings for leading her to a $1 million lottery win.
It was an otherwise ordinary Monday in the valley when Catalina Deniston traveled from her home in Clovis earlier this week to visit her parents in Sanger.
While she was there her father was insistent that she buy tostadas from a specific store. When she was leaving she decided to buy a lottery scratcher.
“When I started scratching I saw the one and I thought ‘oh ok, well maybe that’s $10′”, says Catalina. “Another zero popped up and I thought ‘oh maybe it’s $100, that’s cool, you know. And as kept scratching I kept seeing more and more zeros. I scratched the whole amount and I was speechless”.
It turned out she’d won the $1 million grand prize.
“When I realized I won the big amount, I slid (the ticket) over to my dad who was eating right by me. I said, ‘Dad, can you tell me how much that is?’ When he read it, we both started hugging each other and jumping up and down!”
Catalina says she doesn’t know what she’s going to do with it but she’s going to make sure her parents are looked after.
“I’m full of shock”, adds Catalina. I don’t have any definite plans as yet. I’m still processing what took place. I still can’t believe it”.
