FRESNO (KMJ) — A Fresno family are urging us to buy ice cream to help save a young mother’s life.
It was four years ago when Karyn Jakobs was diagnosed with a rare form of thyroid cancer. After years of treatment and months of research, the family’s best hope of beating it is with the help of a clinic just over the southern border in Mexico.
But the stem-cell treatment is expensive – so they’re raising money to be able to afford it.
“If you’re a young mom with five young kids, you want to be around”, says Karyn. “It’s not like I’m saying no to conventional medicine or conventional therapy. It’s to the point where my doctors are encouraging me to go out research and try and find something that will help you because we don’t have any good options for you”.
The branch of Marble Slab Creamery on Shepherd and Champlain in northeast Fresno are donating a part of their profits to the cause throughout Tuesday if you show the ‘Support Karyn’ flyer.
A link to that flyer can be found clicking here, and a link to Karyn’s GoFundMe page can be found here.
