FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — The California 4th District Court of Appeal says that juvenile offenders, like their adult counterparts, are entitled to have certain felonies reclassified under the controversial Proposition 47, as they’re judged by the same criminal code.
The voter-approved initiative treats certain drug and property crimes as misdemeanors instead of felonies, and allows Californians serving time for them to petition for a lighter sentence and reclassification, in an effort to reduce overcrowding.
