Just before 2:00 PM, the Kern County Fire Department received a call for a woman and child stuck on a rock in the Kern
River.

When they arrived, firefighters found the mother, her 4-year-old daughter, and two men hanging onto a rock in the middle of the river.

The crew entered the river near the Frandee Campground in Kernville.

Crews sent personnel down stream with rope bags as a precaution. And several others were sent upstream to warn incoming rafters. The remaining personnel made a human chain to the rock where the 4 people were stranded. The four were rescued in 13 minutes.
