FRESNO (KMJ) — A woman who allegedly used a false name and credit card to rent a car essentially drove herself to prison while visiting her boyfriend who was already behind bars.
Cynthia Abate had driven the vehicle to a parking area in front of Fresno County Jail in Downtown Fresno. Officers followed it there after discovering it was stolen. When members of Fresno’s HEAT Task Force searched the car, they found drugs and stolen credit cards inside.
The 41 year old was also in possession of homemade credit cards stamped with fake names.
Her interview established that she was on her way to visit her boyfriend in jail who was in for auto theft and identity theft.
The stolen car was returned to the rental agency and anyone with further information about the crime is asked to contact Fresno County Sheriff’s Department.
