The Grizzlies are literally cooking up a new promotion for their upcoming game and they want to temp you with tacos.
New additions to their “5th Taco Truck Throwdown” promotion – players wearing taco-themed jerseys.
“We’ve never worn a theme jersey before – that’s the part we’ve never brought the energy on to the baseball field. Never incorporated our players into the theme night. So that’s kinda our push this year how can we make a well rounded experience for the fans, and not only take them from wanting to try the tacos on the concourse but also looking on the field and watch our first place team.” -Grizzlies Spokesperson Ryan Young.
The event’s grown from seven trucks and 7,977 tacos to 27,222 tacos and 19 trucks.
And there will be a lot of taco trucks… including Jovita Salazar’s from the El Mexicano Restaurant in Fowler.
“We sell a lot of them, we don’t remember how many… more than 600…. more than 800…. more than – probably close to 1000 or more. We have carne asada, chicken, carnitas and for the Throwdown, we’ll have pastore and chili verde which is a customer favorite.” – Jovita Salazar El Mexicano Restaurant.
The Grizzlies take on the Sacramento River Cats at 7:05 on Thursday, August 6th.
