Chukchansi’s Tex McDonald Takes Guilty Plea

Fresno (KMJ)  The former head of the Chukchansi tribe has been released from jail after pleading guilty to a single charge of false imprisonment.

Tex McDonald had been accused of organizing an armed takeover of the Chukchansi Casino – which eventually led to the closure of the resort.

McDonald was sentenced to more than a year behind bars but was released after serving more than 200 days.

McDonald and his security team were caught on security video storming the casino last year with firearms and stun guns. The takeover was part of a dispute between rival factions of the Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchansi Indians.

The casino remains closed and there is no estimate on a date to reopen.
