FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Orange County attorney Matt McLaughlin proposed the “Sodomite Suppression Act,” which advocated killing gays and lesbians by “bullets to the head.”
A judge declared the initiative unconstitutional, but just a week later, McLaughlin has offered the “Sodomite Suppression Mandate.”
Speaking publicly for the first time, McLaughlin claims he’s not proposing murder, and is instead “proposing the laws as they’re ever been,” adding that “the bible doesn’t change.”
Attorney General Kamala Harris has already rejected his latest offering.
McLaughlin’s initiatives have sparked a debate over whether the low filing fee promotes abuse of the process.
There have also been calls for McLaughlin to be disbarred, as some in the legal community believe he’s unfit to practice law.
