LAS VEGAS (AP) — A judge set bail at $200,000 for a former Oklahoma town police officer being held on felony kidnapping and statutory sexual seduction charges following his arrest in Las Vegas with a girl who officials say disappeared from her grandmother’s home in California.
Justice of the Peace Ann Zimmerman appointed a public defender on Monday to represent 30-year-old Danniel Boone Morgan II, and scheduled a July 13 preliminary hearing.
Morgan wasn’t asked to enter a plea.
His lawyer, Steven Lisk, wasn’t immediately available for comment after Morgan’s brief initial court appearance.
Morgan stood in shackles, said he knows he’s been fired from his job in Kiowa, Oklahoma, and acknowledged that he faces a felony charge in Turlock, California.
Morgan was arrested Thursday on a kidnapping warrant issued last Wednesday in California.
