Fresno State’s Athletic Director shares the progress made on the 5-point plan for Bulldog Athletics unveiled back in February.

It’s a bold vision for Bulldog Stadium unveiled to a packed room at Fresno State’s Duncan Building with a video presentation highlighting upgrades to “better” the fan experience: stadium3 “This is about everybody, it’s about the Valley, about the community, we need everybody involved, they’ve got to have ownership on this.” – Jim Bartko, Athletic Director.

Bartko’s thinking better is not necessarily bigger.

While the stadium would lose about 4000 seats, it would gain an enclosed club and suites with outdoor seating and a high level of food service with a new kitchen.

“You need to have price points for all fans not just those that can afford a million dollar gift. There will be a small part – maybe a thousand seats that will be in those areas, maybe 22 seats that will have access to those parts, but the rest of the fans will benefit also.” – Jim Bartko, Athletic Director.

A new scoreboard is going in and tailgating is changing to be open all throughout the game.

“There’s no reason to shut it down before kickoff and then open it back up at the end of the game again – we want fans to come to the game – if someone can’t go to the game, they’re elderly or they have kids, if they want to stay in the parking lot and throw the football around let’s let them do it. So, we’re going to make sure the fan experience is best for everybody.” -Jim Bartko, Athletic Director.

Branding and donor recognition are being considered.

One idea: 32 “Pillars of the Valley” areas to recognize donors throughout the stadium. stadium4

Bartko would like to see action beginning in the next two years, but says it could take 5 to 10 years to be entirely realized.

He likened it to opening a Christmas present: “there are 800 pieces to put together but we’ll make it happen.”
