Fresno Tazer Assault Suspect Caught After Slow Speed Chase

FRESNO (KMJ) — A man who police say tazed another man and then set off on a slow speed chase with police – is now behind bars.

Officers were called to the intersection of Clay and Millbrook in southeast Fresno at around 9pm Wednesday night.

They were told en-route that the suspect had driven away, but officers found the vehicle getting onto Highway 41 and instigated a 40mph pursuit.

The driver failed to stop but did follow all other traffic laws. The chase ended near a motel close to Blackstone and Ashlan where the suspect identified as Manuel Uribewas taken into custody. Inside the car, Officers found a small handgun.

The 50 year old told officers he tazed the other man because he thought he was having an affair with his girlfriend.

Uribe has since been booked into Fresno County Jail on charges including possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, assault with a taser, and evading police.
