FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Following a recession-era hit, the Golden State has gone from being the world’s 9th to 7th largest economy.
The U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis reports California’s GDP reached $2.3 trillion in 2014, after bottoming out in 2010, due to the financial meltdown.
Professional and technical services are seeing significant growth, as are entertainment and agriculture, despite the ongoing drought.
The latest figures come amid budget negotiations in Sacramento, and Governor Jerry Brown’s office is taking credit, saying California is not competing with Texas or Florida, but rather, on the global level.
