FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Fewer than 1% of students in high schools throughout Fresno and Clovis Unified, have access to courses in computer science.

That’s according to a new report by the Level Playing Field Institute, which cites the need for greater exposure to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Here in Fresno, fewer than 90 students are enrolled in the two computer science courses, available only at Sunnyside and Edison high schools.

However, the district expects that change, after the new entrepreneurship high school opens later this year

In addition, Clovis Unified is partnering with Reedley College for similar classes, while students from both districts may shoot for a seat at the Center for Advanced Research and Technology, known as CART.
