(KMJ) A teenage girl is at an area hospital after she was rescued from Millerton Lake Sunday afternoon.
The girl had been swimming in the area known as McKenzie Point when she disappeared underwater, around 6:00 p.m. There is no lifeguard in this area. and on-lookers alerted lifeguards at a nearby tower.
Ranger Supervisor Steve Barber says four lifeguards were on scene within 90 seconds.
“The visitor was pulled from the water in two minutes,” he says.
The girl – who had not been wearing a life vest — was not conscious when she was pulled from the water.
Barber says crews administered CPR for about ten minutes before rushing the girl to St. Agnes Medical Center.
He says the incident serves as a reminder to families who are planning on heading to the lake as the weather warms up.
