Lots of Agriculture Jobs Open Across the Nation

A new report produced by Purdue University, with grant support from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture, shows demand for recent college graduates with degrees in ag programs.

There are an estimated 57,900 high-skilled job openings each year in the food, ag, renewable natural resources and environment fields in the United States.

The report shows an average of 35,400 new U.S. graduates with degrees in ag-related fields.

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack says there are ample career opportunities available for those receiving ag-related degrees and he says those jobs will become more important as we continue to develop solutions to feed more than 9-billion people by 2050.

According to the report, almost half of the job opportunities will be in management and business 27% in STEM area jobs, 15% in food and biomaterials production and 12% in education, communication and governmental services.
