SONOMA, Calif. (AP) – A 40-year-old man pleaded not guilty to charges that he bludgeoned an acquaintance to death, put his body in a 55-gallon barrel and left it outside Sonoma City Hall.
The Santa Rosa Press Democrat reports a blood-stained barrel covered with a plastic tarp was discovered in front of city hall in California wine country. Sheriff’s officials have not disclosed a possible motive.
Prosecutors charged Christopher McNatt in March with 64-year-old Ronald Sauvageau’s killing. A preliminary hearing has been set for Aug. 17.
