FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Do support higher taxes at the pump?

If the revenue is used to improve public infrastructure, safety, or air quality, a majority of U.S. citizens say they’re willing to pay higher gas taxes.

But according to the Mineta Transportation Institute, a near supermajority oppose using fuel taxes to pay for public transit.

Pollsters say the findings show that most citizens desire a balanced transportation system, with safe, well-maintained roads.
