CA Prison Officials Revise Sex Offender Residency Policy

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — California prison officials have scrapped the blanket ban on registered sex offenders from living near parks of schools, following a state Supreme Court ruling.

The restrictions were said to have left too many offenders without permanent housing.

Statewide, there are more than 1,400 transient sex offenders, 60 of whom are in Fresno County.

The residency restriction will remain in effect for those classified as high-risk offenders.
