Fresno’s VA Hospital Gets $20 Million

Fresno’s VA Hospital will be expanding it’s staff and the quality of care thanks to federal money.

Dr. Wessel Meyer, the Director for the VA Central California Healthcare System, announced $20-million dollars is coming into the coffers.

Dr. Meyers says the funds will truly transform Fresno’s care for veterans –decreasing wait times – for both specialty,,,, and preferred care.

The money is a portion of the 5 billion dollars from the Choice Act that the President signed into law, last year – to improve VA systems across the nation.

Dr Meyers says they are now on a time crunch to get 86 new people on board.

They will be hiring 30-staff members this year and the rest in 2016.
