Suspected Thief Found Dead Inside Fresno Business’ Wall

FRESNO (KMJ) — Wire scattered around – a smashed back window – and a dead man stuck inside the wall.

Fresno police say the first two are hallmarks of a break in – the third doesn't happen very often.

But there might be a very straightforward reason for it.

Officers were called out to a business close to the intersection of Ashlan and Golden State. They searched the place – and noticed a hole in the wall. Through the hole they saw a man's foot.

"They had a cement barrier there – like a cement board", says Sergeant Carl McKnight. "It was stamped burglar proof security wall…so I guess it worked that time".

He was found Monday afternoon. Police suspect he was there stealing copper wire from inside the building.

"There was nothing there that would give you the sense that he was there for any amount of time".

Fresno Fire were called to cut the man out of the wall – and the investigation into his death is still on-going.
