FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Hundreds of prominent conservatives are backing gay marriage in a U.S. Supreme Court brief.

It comes ahead of hearings on the constitutionality of same-sex marriage bans in Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and Tennessee.

The brief signed by more than 300 high-profile Republicans, including California’s last two gubernatorial candidates, Meg Whitman, and Neel Kashkari.

Congressmen Devin Nunes, David Valadao, Jeff Denham, and Kevin McCarthy did not sign the brief.

California voters approved a ban on gay marriage back in 2008; but, it was later invalidated, and 61% say they support such marriages.
