FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — A series of measures introduced in the California legislature aim to increase protections for victims of “revenge porn.”

One of the bills, written by Senator Anthony Cannella, would classify the intentional distribution of such images as a new crime.

Another, penned by Assemblyman Mike Gatto, would allow search warrants to be issued and give prosecutors more tools.

State Attorney General Kamala Harris, who sponsored the legislation, says cyber crimes humiliate and degrade victims.
