Actor Leonard Nimoy dead at Age 83.
Nimoy died Friday (2/27/2015) at his home in Bel-Air at age 83.
In 2014, Nimoy revealed that he had Chronic Pulmonary Obstructive Disease, a condition he linked to the cigarettes he had given up 30 years earlier.
Nimoy was born in Boston (March 26, 1931), the son of Jewish immigrants from Ukraine.
He became famous for his TV role on the show “Star Trek” as the Vulcan – half-alien, half-human Mr. Spock, the science officer of the Starship Enterprise.
He went on the play the character in the Star Trek films.
Spock was known for his signature split-fingered salute and his saying: "Live Long and Prosper."
Nimoy co-starring with William Shatner, who played his commanding officer, Captain James Kirk in the TV series.
"Mr. Spock" was the son of a human mother and a father from Vulcan, a planet whose inhabitants had concluded that pure logic was the only way they could survive.
