Fresno State’s Athletic Director Shares Plan

~Fresno State's new Athletic Director Jim Bartko shared his 5-point plan for the school.

~5-Point Plan Empowering Excellence
• Achieving the highest standards
• Strengthening the pack
• Building a home field advantage
• Expanding competitive opportunities
• Community outreach

Bartko says "wins and losses are important but scholarships are critical" and that's high on his list, along with renovating facilities, adding more sports and re-engaging the valley.

Bartko wants to better the fan experience and will examine Bulldog Stadium and the surrounding areas to see where improvements can be made.

A new email survey will find out what people like and don't like.

"We'll only be successful if the fans in the valley believe in what we're doing and that going to make all of us go better." -Jim Bartko

He will also be reinstating wresting and adding women's water polo which would bring Fresno State's NCAA sports total up from 19 to 21.

In a trend that's been seen at other universities, Fresno State lost 1,600 donors in the last five years and Bartko says he'll work to get them back.

Bartko's goal is to fully fund the athletic department by raising 3 million dollars in the next year and a half.

He says it's attainable by his staff and Bulldog supporters.
