Victims’ Families Pay It Forward

~Friends and family of the victims of this weekend's deadly accident in North Fresno are paying it forward.

The loss of a loved one is devastating,,,and the need to see light where there is darkness is compelling.

Family and friends of Molly Griffin and Oscar Felix are now honoring their loved ones with a scholarship and a fundraiser.

Molly Griffin was a nurse. The 23 year old had graduated from Fresno State School of Nursing last May.

She worked at Madera Community Hospital.

Griffin and best friend Emily Krieghoff – a nurse to be – were hit in their car when a suspected drunk driver ran a red light at Friant and Copper on Saturday night (2/25/2015).

Emily survived Molly did not.

Molly's family is paying it forward setting up the Molly Taylor Griffin Nursing Scholarship at Fresno State.

The California Student Nursing Association at Fresno State posted this message in her honor Sunday: “CNSA and the entire School of Nursing at Fresno State would like to send our thoughts and prayers to the Griffin Family as we mourn the loss of a bright young life. From those who knew her best to those who never had the pleasure of meeting her, words cannot express the sense of loss that sweeps over us all today. May her life and legacy live on in the hearts of her family, friends, coworkers, and acquaintances. Rest in Peace, beautiful girl.”

In lieu of flowers, Ms. Griffin’s family asks that remembrances be made to the Molly Taylor Griffin Nursing Scholarship at Fresno State

Checks should be payable to the Fresno State Foundation and mailed to 2345 E. San Ramon, M/S MH26, Fresno, CA 93740-8031.

Donors may also contribute online at www.fresnostate.edu/advancement/giving/givenow.html. Mark “Other” and enter “Molly Taylor Griffin Scholarship.”

Oscar Felix was a father of three.

He also died in the car driven by Hector Castillo – Pichardo – who has been charged in the accident.

Felix's friends will be at Shields and Channing on Saturday night at 5:00, selling baked goods and collecting donations.

His family wishes to send him back to Sinaloa Mexico, where he was born – and his friends are helping them make that possible by raising funds.
