Superstitions abound about how unlucky Friday the 13th can be for you. In fact, it's known as "triskadekaphobia" – scientific name for fear of the number 13. If you have it, today may not be your day.
Believe it or not, there is no written evidence for a "Friday the 13th" superstition before the 19th Century. And, dread of this date only gained widespread appreciation in the 20th Century.
According to behavioral scientist Doctor Donald Dossey, fear of this date is the most wide-spread superstition in the Nation. Other phychologist contend this date may trace its unlucky roots back to the 1300s.
But, your bad luck may just be in your head. Some psychologists say that if "anything" negative happens to you on a specific date, you make a permanent association with that day and gloom and doom that followed.
And, not to be the bearer of more bad news but, there are two more Fridays the 13th this year. The next one is in March, and then again in November.
