FRESNO (KMJ) — A gas leak in east central fresno forced the evacuation of a number of local businesses this morning.
The call came in around 6.30am – when a passer by saw the plume of dust thrown into the air by the force of the gas.
Fresno Fire responded – and along with Fresno PD closed down a section of Clinton Avenue between Argyle and Sunnyside.
"In this case you have natural gas leaking out into the atmosphere, and any enclosed area could cause someone to get sick", says Fresno Fire's Pete Martinez.
"But in this case we're taking every precaution possible – and we're going to make sure that anybody in the affected area is going to be evacuated".
PG&E have since fixed the ruptured line – and the street has re-opened to traffic.
