USDA NASS Releases Cattle Report

USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service reports the first U.S. cattle herd inventory increase since 2007.

From its survey of more than 38,200 operators across the nation during the first half of January, Nass reports as of January 1st, there are 89.8-million head of cattle and calves on U.S. farms.

There are 29.7-million beef cows in the U.S.,up two-percent from last year and the number of milk cows has increased to 9.3-million.

The U.S. calf crop is estimated at 33.9-million head which is an increase of 1% from 2013 and all cattle on feed increased 1% from 2014 to 13.1-million.
