Measles ‘Patient One’ Visited Restaurant, Stores, CRMC

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) – We're getting more information about where the man considered to be 'Patient One' in Fresno County's on-going measles situation has been.

We now know the man carrying the highly contagious measles virus visited the McDonalds in Delano last Sunday – between 10:30am and 1pm.

Health officials say if you were there at that time – you should watch for symptoms until February 15th.

Fresno County’s Department of Public Health say the patient also visited the 3rd and 4th floors of Community Regional Medical Center on two separate occasions between Thursday, January 22 at 9:00 pm and Sunday, January 25 at 9:00 pm.

Community Regional Medical Centers is taking steps to contact patients who were potentially exposed at the hospital.

The individual also visited WinCo Foods on the intersection of Kings Canyon and Peach on January 25 at 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm and Fashion Fair Mall’s Build a Bear and Disney stores on January 25 from 11:30 am to 3:00pm.

The symptoms of the measles include a fever (often high); cough; runny nose; red eyes; and a rash (usually starting on the face and spreading down the body).

Health officials have reassured us that exposure to measles would only have occurred on these dates and times – but add that anyone who shows any signs of measles should stay at home, verify their immunization status, and then contact their health care provider.

Residents with questions about potential exposure can call the Department of Public Health Measles Call Center at (559) 600-7193.

They add that the best prevention measure for measles is to get vaccinated.

At the last count – almost 80 cases have been confirmed in California.
