$5 Million Pledge For Valley Children’s Hospital

MADERA (KMJ) — Valley Children's Hospital has today been given it's largest single pledge – $5 million.

It's been raised by The Guilds of Valley Children’s Hospital and set to support the fight against child abuse here in the valley.

Guild Vice Chair Alison Karahadian says the money will give children the help they need a lot faster than if they went through county services:

"When there are cases that come through our emergency room – the doctors and the nurses are able to intervene right away and also intervene with counseling".

"They're then able to refer all of these family and children to the right places".

Staff cheered from both levels of the hospital's main entrance as the Guild members filed through – and were honored by Valley Children's President and CEO Todd Suntrpak.

"You make a difference every day", he said. "Whether or not your here to see it".

But it doesn't stop there – the Guild also signed a new pledge to raise a further $4 million for other hospital services.
