FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — California governments’ per-capita staffing levels are among the lowest in the nation.

But when it comes to income, it’s another story.

According the U.S. Census Bureau, public employees in the golden state earned an average of $4,789 dollars per month last year.

That follows only New York, New Jersey, and the District of Columbia, although California employs the most public servants, with more than 2 million workers.
