FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — CPUC President Michael Peevey has stepped down, amid an investigation into his inappropriate ties with PG&E.

He made his final remarks in a farewell session, declaring, “I surrender. Don’t shoot. I surrender.”

Some showed their support for Peevey; but others suggested he be jailed on corruption charges.

E-Mails show a cozy relationship between the utility and commission, in the days following the deadly San Bruno pipeline explosion.

Controversy also arose over how energy rate hikes are handled.
