(KMJ) – A shooting early Wednesday morning in El Dorado County in the town of Somerset has claimed the life of a Sheriff’s Deputy.
A statement from the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office confirms Deputy Brian Ishmael was shot and killed while responding to a call at Sand Ridge Drive and Mount Aukum roam, about 10 miles southeast of Placerville. And a “ride-along” passenger who was with Ishmael was shot and injured.
The Sheriff’s Office confirms two male suspects are in custody but the scene is still considered active.
Deputy Brian Ishmael was a four-year veteran with the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office and previously worked for the Placerville Police Department.
