Deputy Fresno Police Chief Andy Hall Named to Succeed Dyer

Incoming Fresno Police Chief Andy Hall.

FRESNO (KMJ) – Mayor Lee Brand announced, on an interim basis, Deputy Police Chief Andy Hall will succeed outgoing chief Jerry Dyer when he retires in October.

The 58 year-old Hall is a graduate of Hoover High School, and he’s been with Fresno PD since he was an 18 year-old cadet.

Choking back tears, Hall asked the public to be patient with him as he earns their trust.

Hall was not among the five finalists for the job. In fact, he didn’t even apply.

Brand says the city will begin another nationwide search for a permanent chief early next year.

Hall will serve until he retires in 2021.
