As Seaver Suffers, Tom Brady Files Trademark for “Tom Terrific”

FRESNO, CA (KMJ)   Who’s the real “Tom Terrific”?

New England Patriots star Tom Brady has roiled NY Mets fans after word spread that the quarterback has filed a trademark for “Tom Terrific”, a nickname that was given to Fresno legend Tom Seaver decades ago.

The optics are not playing well for the Brady because the MLB Hall of Famer is currently battling dementia.

Tom Brady Files Trademarks for “TOM TERRIFIC”

The Mets actually made a public plea via the team’s Twitter account to the U.S. Patent Office to try and stop them from registering the trademark.

Brady has not responded.  Seaver, 74, has never filed for a trademark of the nickname.

The Fresno-bred superstar won three National League Cy Young Awards and 311 games during his storied, 20-year long MLB career in which he pitched for the Mets, Reds, White Sox and Red Sox. Seaver, who attended Fresno High School and Fresno City College, won a career-high 25 games in 1969, leading the New York Mets to their first World Series title. The right-hander was a first-ballot Hall of Famer in 1992.
