LONG BEACH (KMJ) — The Chancellor of the California State University has promised no tuition fee increases in the system’s upcoming budget.

It follows the announcement earlier this month that Governor Gavin Newsom’s 2019-20 budget proposal includes an approximately $300 million increase for the CSU system.

“In response to his visionary budget, I will not bring forward any request for the trustees to consider a tuition increase for our 2019-20 budget,” said Chancellor Timothy White.

“You heard me correctly: tuition is off the table.”

White went on to describe the previous year as the best ever, and called for further investment in students.

“They will become the energy that keeps the California dream flourishing.”
