Officer Corona’s Killer Identified as 48 Yr Old Davis Man

(KMJ)  The Yolo County Sheriff’s Department has identified the man who gunned down a 22 year old rookie Davis police officer on Thursday as 48 year old Kevin Limbaugh.

Detectives say the Davis resident shot and killed officer Natalie Corona while she was responding to a routine traffic collision. Investigators say Limbaugh approached the scene on a bicycle and opened fire.

As Corona fell, Limbaugh continued to fire, striking her multiple times.  Davis Police say the suspect then reloaded his handgun and continued shooting before fleeing the scene.

Limbaugh then holed up inside his home as SWAT officers closed in.  Limbaugh’s body was found later.  He had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

According to the Mercury News, Limbaugh was charged last year with battery and convicted after punching a co-worker at Cache Creek Casino.  As a result he was ordered to surrender his Bushmaster AR-15 rifle.  Two semiautomatic handguns were found in his home.
